Last week I had the privilege of seeing and photographing a great band at the Broadberry here in Richmond. If you haven’t heard of these guys, then I suggest you look them up, because they’re going to be big real soon. Their tour made a stop here on their way around the country from Portland, OR. This was a special show for some of the band members as they have roots here in Virginia (they got started at Virginia Tech), including the bassist, Jeff, who I went to high school with. They’ve officially got a new fan in me, and hopefully anyone who might read this post and look them up.

Two good friends welcomed a beautiful baby girl to the world last week. They happen to live right down the street from us, so Kelly and I were able to walk over and spend some quality time with her. I love being able to shoot in a client’s home, and I think that’s what really makes this shoot special. Both mother and baby feel so much more comfortable and relaxed in their own home. And as you will see, I’m pretty sure this little one was relaxed 🙂

This year has been the busiest yet for me, and I’m grateful for all the friends & family that I’ve gotten to shoot. Here are some of my favorite images of the season, and here’s to a great 2016!

First impressions are everything. Whether it be on your business card, website, social media account or anywhere else, your head shot can make or break you from the very start.

It should go without saying but having a quality, professional head shot is a must in today’s media-driven world. However, I come across people in basically every industry that either don’t have one, or haven’t had an updated one taken in years.

Personally I prefer shooting my clients outdoors and in the natural light versus in a studio against a solid backdrop. It gives the photo a more updated, flattering look. I can even use the background to enhance the portrait for certain clients (i.e. the construction managers seen below.) Here are some of my favorite shots and examples of my style

I had the privilege of getting a photo pass to the beautiful Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville last week for The Chainsmokers. Now this was my first EDM show, but if this show was any indication, it probably won’t be my last. Everything about this concert was awesome, the music, the crowd, the energy, the light show, all of it. The combination of those things with the details and architecture of the Jefferson made for a fantastic concert experience. Can’t wait to get my next pass!
